Heroes Battlegrounds characters are complete fighting kits rather than simple skins. Your choice changes how you start pressure, confirm hits, move through the arena, spend an ultimate, and recover after a missed attack. This index helps you choose a fighter by learning goal, then sends you to focused pages for Explosion Hero, Full Throttle, Warp Portal, Green Hero, and Hero Slayer. It does not pretend every community nickname or old move value is still current after the August 31 update.

The live Roblox description confirms that the experience supports all devices, includes bosses, and lets players unlock mastered versions of characters. Official badges also confirm mastery paths for Green Hero, Hero Slayer, Azure Flames, Split Ice, and Explosion Hero, while the Warp Portal badge connects that character to The Prototype encounter. Those signals are more reliable than an undated tier list.

Character index at a glance

Current community references also track Split Ice, Azure Flames, Winged Assassin, Decaying Hatred, Human Architect, Lovesick Killer, and special-access fighters. Availability can differ by build or access state.

This is a navigation index, not a permanent roster promise. Early Access can expose unfinished characters before their public release, limited events can temporarily add options, and reworks can change an existing slot without changing its display name.

Choose by the skill you want to learn

The best first character is the one that makes a combat lesson visible. For basic hit confirmation, pick a kit whose opening move you can recognize and punish when it misses. For movement, Full Throttle emphasizes approach angles and distance. For mixed ranges, Explosion Hero lets you compare a close confirm with a ranged check. For boss progression, Warp Portal gives you a concrete unlock goal tied to The Prototype.

Learning goal
Good starting choice
Practice rule
Basic confirms
Green Hero
Use short M1 strings, then add one move only after the starter connects
Range control
Explosion Hero
Separate poke range from combo range and stop throwing unsafe moves on guess
Mobility
Full Throttle
Land beside the target with an exit available instead of dashing straight through every time
Boss unlock
Warp Portal goal
Learn The Prototype cycle and verify the current reward notice after each win

Do not choose solely from a damage screenshot. Damage, cooldowns, armor behavior, and cancel windows are the details most likely to shift. A kit you understand will usually outperform a supposedly stronger kit whose recovery and spacing you have not learned.

Base kits, ultimates, and mastered versions

A base character gives you the core move set and an ultimate activated with G on computer after the meter is ready. A mastered version is a progression reward attached to a specific character. The live description says players can unlock mastered versions by fighting bosses, while official badge descriptions explicitly say several masteries are unlocked through quests. In practice, read the current progress panel because the mix of credited actions, quest rotation, and boss progress can change.

Mastery should not be confused with Early Access. Early Access is a paid product that can let an owner play unfinished characters, according to the product description. Mastery is in-experience progression for supported fighters. Private Server Commands is another separate product; it does not automatically unlock a public character for normal servers.

A safe roster-check routine

Join the root experience, open the character selector, and note which slots are freely selectable, locked, mastered, early-access, private-server-only, or event-limited. Select a character and compare the move names shown in the current HUD with any guide you intend to follow. If a guide uses a move name that is absent, treat that route as old until you test the replacement.

On a newly reworked character, spend a few minutes in a low-pressure space. Test one move at a time for startup, travel, hit reaction, recovery, and whether it works differently in the air. Then test blocking and recovery dash with the character selected. This builds a current personal move sheet without relying on stale cooldown numbers.

Unlocks confirmed by public Roblox records

Official badge descriptions provide useful anchors without exposing every hidden mechanic. Verdant Hope corresponds to Green Hero mastery, Crimson Justice to Hero Slayer mastery, Violet Inferno to Azure Flames mastery, Scorching Winter to Split Ice mastery, and Explosion Murder God to Explosion Hero mastery. Unlocked Warp Portal states that defeating The Prototype gives a chance to obtain Warp Portal and that the chance improves with each win.

Those descriptions establish that the goals exist. They do not establish exact percentage gains, pity increments, quest timers, or boss contribution thresholds. Check the live progress panel and end-of-fight notices for those values. If a server has been running across an update, rejoin before concluding that a newly announced unlock is missing.

Character practice that transfers

Every fighter benefits from the official computer fundamentals: left click to punch, F to block, Q to dash, Q while ragdolled to recovery dash, jump plus left click to downslam, and G for ultimate. Learn when an opponent can block again, when your own move leaves you vulnerable, and which follow-up still works at the edge of range. These skills survive balance patches better than memorizing one exact damage total.

Practice a compact loop: land a basic starter, confirm one character move, stop before the target can escape, then reset to neutral. Next, practice defending the same route. Finally, use the character in a crowded public fight, where camera position and third parties matter. The linked combo pages expand that process for Green Hero, Explosion Hero, Full Throttle, and Split Ice.

Current-source notes

The official experience page is the authority for game identity, supported devices, current update copy, and published controls. Roblox badge records support the named mastery and Warp Portal unlock relationships. Character move names and broader roster groupings may be described by community-maintained references; they should always be compared with the live HUD after a rework. This index was checked August 31, 2026 and intentionally avoids fixed tier rankings.
