Heroes Battlegrounds Split Ice Combos

Practice Split Ice combos using M1 confirms, Ice Javelin and Frost Burst spacing, downslam checks, mastered-kit separation, and escape testing.

Split Ice combos revolve around controlling the target’s position before committing to ice pressure. Current community references commonly name Ice Javelin and Frost Burst, with other follow-ups or variants shown by the live move panel. Start with basic punches, learn which action freezes, launches, or displaces in the current build, and add only the move whose range matches that state.

This page separates base-kit practice from mastered Split Ice. The official Scorching Winter badge confirms mastery through quests, but mastered stance and temperature behavior belong to a different test sheet.

Setup and notation

M1 means the basic punch action. On computer, Q dashes, F blocks, jump plus left click downslams, and Q while ragdolled performs recovery dash. Mobile and console players use the equivalent current action buttons.

Practice on level ground with every move ready. Test Ice Javelin and Frost Burst alone at several distances. Observe travel, hit reaction, block response, and recovery. If the live HUD uses different labels, organize the route by those observed roles.

Route one: M1 into Ice Javelin

Use three deliberate M1 hits, confirm contact, and test Ice Javelin at the distance created by the string. Stop after it lands or misses. The purpose is to determine whether the current hit reaction creates a stable line, not to buffer the next action.

If the target can side dash before the projectile arrives, treat Ice Javelin as pressure or a read. Try a shorter delay and closer starter, then record whether the escape remains possible.

Route two: downslam into Frost Burst

Perform a short M1 string, keep the camera centered, and use the official downslam action. Test Frost Burst after the landing state if its current range supports the connection. Watch for elevation: a slight step can move the target out of the expected area.

Do five attempts on open ground before trying a wall. If Frost Burst pushes or freezes differently near scenery, keep that as a separate conversion rather than changing your default timing.

Route three: javelin-to-burst branch

When Ice Javelin creates a predictable hit reaction in the current build, test whether Frost Burst reaches afterward. Have a partner alternate no input, block, and recovery dash. If they can escape, the second move is a chase or pressure decision, not a guaranteed extension.

Preserve a dash for spacing. Throwing Frost Burst from the wrong range and then using another close move at empty space is the common failure. Reset when the target has clearly recovered.

Community long-route caution

Community pages sometimes describe longer sequences involving forward dash, three M1 hits, uppercut or downslam, Ice Javelin, another M1 sequence, Frost Burst, and an additional ice move. Use that only as a menu of branches. Test each connection separately and never assume the entire chain remains valid after balance changes.

Long routes are especially vulnerable to latency, wall rotation, recovery dash, and third-party interruption. Build a reliable two-move version first. Add a branch only when it solves a real position.

Wall, freeze, and camera checks

Walls may contain knockback and extend close pressure, but they can shift the target sideways. Stand one character-width from the wall and repeat the starter. If the model rotates, turn before Ice Javelin. Keep enough camera distance to see whether another player enters.

Do not treat an ice visual as proof of permanent stun. Watch the actual target state and test block or dash with a partner. The effect can outlast the useful confirm window.

Base kit versus mastery

Mastered Split Ice is community-described as adding stance or fire-and-ice resource decisions, with moves such as Glacial Effigy or Frozen Aegir. Do not insert those names into a base route. Unlock and equip mastery, inspect the new HUD, and learn each stance separately.

The Split Ice Mastery guide covers progress and stance verification. A consistent base M1-to-ice confirm remains the foundation when mastery adds complexity.

Defense and cooldown discipline

Abort when the starter is blocked. Save either Ice Javelin for a real ranged check or Frost Burst for a position where it reaches; do not spend both because the target is on screen. After a dropped route, use F or reposition with Q rather than continuing the script.

Against mobile opponents, vary the projectile timing. Against close pressure, block first and punish a clear miss. In public fights, use the short route and keep an escape for third parties.

Current-source notes

The official experience page provides universal controls and the broader mastery system. The official Scorching Winter badge confirms Split Ice mastery through quests. Move names and route shapes are community-documented, so exact damage, freeze duration, cooldowns, stance rules, and true-combo status require live testing.
